PROJECT: | Assessment of the impact of biocides on the American Signal Crayfish to aid eradication in Scotland
Management Tool / Applied Outcome | Related Policy/Outcome
A | Lethal toxicity of biocides used on N. American Signal crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus to help eradication, in controlled laboratory experiment | Reliable EC50 concentration of potential biocides from laboratory & mesocosm experiments to help develop programme to eradicate invasive signal crayfish;
EC50 values obtained = a starting point for field trials to verify real toxic effect the signal crayfish and the potential for eradication;
Susceptibility of other invasive species eg. killer shrimp (Dikerogammarus villosus) & Asian clam (Corbicula fluminea) to the proposed chemicals; gathering of EC50 value.
