Unit Conversions
Test your knowledge of the abbreviations for orders of magnitude of SI units (m, μ etc.) and practice converting between them.
Enter the appropriate power of 10 in the box.

The different orders of magnitude here are:
m (milli) = 10–3
μ (micro) = 10–6
n (nano) = 10–9
p (pico) = 10–12

Example: 475 nM = 4.75 x 10? mM

  • Problem: convert nM (10–9 M) to mM (10–3 M)
  • So 1 nM = 10–9 ÷ 10–3 mM
  • i.e. 1 nM = 1 x 10–6 mM
  • 475 nM = 4.75 x 10–4 mM
